Juniors learn to compete in dog shows at a high level of character, effort, enthusiasm, integrity, and sportsmanship as they develop their handling skills and learn about dogs and dog shows. AKC is open to children 10-18 years old. In ASCA, a junior, must be 8 years and no older than 18 years. In ASCA the two divisions are Novice and Open 8-12 year and 13-17 years. All first place winners from these classes shall compete for the Best Junior Handler Award. ASCA also has non-regular Pee-Wee (3-5yrs) and Sub-Juniors (6-7yrs.) ASCA Junior Program runs from June 1st of each calendar year to May 31st. Move-up's occur each June 1st. To get started in Jr. Showmanship contact AKC or ASCA for more information.
